MISSION
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) determines the cause and manner of death --and confirms the identity -- in cases under its jurisdiction (usually of violent, suspicious, or apparently undetermined manners). The agency accomplishes this mission through medical and medico-legal case investigations and through the performance of autopsies and laboratory studies.Web Site:
