| 7009-6402 | Gateway Cities Career Academies For grants to support the establishment and operation of career academies in gateway cities, and to build stronger relationships and partnerships among high schools, institutions of higher education, local employers, and workforce development entities, in order to create multiple and seamless pathways to employment; provided, that the funds shall be used to establish education and industry coordinating councils (EICCs); provided further, that the EICCs shall be chaired by the district superintendent and chair of the local workforce investment boards, and shall include representatives from district high schools, institutions of higher education, industry partners, and local/regional employers; provided further, that such funding shall be used to engage in planning to establish career academies or to plan for the establishment of such academies during the following fiscal year; provided further, that this funding shall also be used to support the implementation of new academic and career programs at established career academies for up to 1 year of operation; and provided further, that funds may be expended through August 31, 2015 to allow for summer programming |
