4513-1026 Suicide Prevention and Intervention Program
For the provision of statewide and community-based suicide prevention, intervention, post-intervention and surveillance activities and the implementation of a statewide suicide prevention plan; provided, that funds may be expended for a program to address elder suicide behavior and attempts with the Geriatric Mental Health Services program within the department of elder affairs; provided further, that funds shall be expended for a Veterans in Crisis Hotline; provided further, that the hotline shall be for the use of veterans who seek counseling programs operated by the department of veterans affairs or concerned family members of those veterans so that they may be directed towards the programs and services offered by their local or regional Veterans Services office; provided further, that the hotline shall be staffed by counselors or outreach programs contracted by the department and trained in issues of mental health counseling and veterans services; provided further, that the SAVE Team in the department of veterans' services for suicide prevention and intervention services may receive an amount that is not less than the amount it received in fiscal year 2010; and provided further, that upon receipt of a written certification by the secretary of administration and finance, addressed to the chairs of the house and senate committees on ways and means and the comptroller of the commonwealth, that legislation extending the commonwealth's eligibility for an enhanced federal medical assistance percentage pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Pub. L. No. 111-5, not in effect as of June 1, 2010, has been duly enacted and signed into law by the President of the United States or that the federal government has otherwise obligated itself to release additional funding not available as of June 1, 2010, to the commonwealth during state fiscal year 2011,the SAVE Team in the department of veterans' services for suicide prevention and intervention services shall receive an amount that is not less than the amount it received in fiscal year 2010
