7061-9815 Hate Crimes

For a grant program administered by the department of elementary and secondary education in coordination with the executive office of public safety and security for the prevention of hate crimes, as defined under section 32 of chapter 22C of the General Laws, and incidences of bias in public schools; provided, that grants shall be used for education, professional development, prevention or community outreach; provided further, that not less than $25,000 shall be expended on Mosaic Interfaith Youth Action, Inc. a grant program administered through the department of elementary and secondary education in coordination with the executive office of public safety and security for the purpose of preventing hate crimes and incidents statewide; and provided further, that the department of elementary and secondary education shall develop guidelines for grant distribution including, but not limited to, prioritizing schools that have experienced hate crimes or incidences of bias within the last 2 years
