7066-0019 | Dual Enrollment Grant and Subsidies For the department of higher education to support the dual enrollment program allowing qualified high school students to take college courses; provided, that public higher education institutions may offer courses in high schools in addition to courses offered at the institutions or online if the number of students is sufficient; provided further, that not less than $750,000 shall be appropriated for planning grants for the STEM Early College High School program; provided further, that the department of higher education shall coordinate with the department of elementary and secondary education to review and approve grant applications; provided further, that selected grantee team members shall include a high school leader, president of local public higher education institution or non-profit degree-granting college or technical institution, and at least one regional business leader; provided further, that qualifying applications include an outline of plans for financial sustainability for the STEM Early College High School and for participation of a significant number of its student body in enrolling and earning college credits in courses in STEM-related fields aligned to the high school curriculum; and provided further, that priority shall be given to applications from teams from high schools with high concentrations of low-income youth |
