Classification Appeals

SECTION 16.   Section 49 of chapter 30 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Any manager or employee of the Commonwealth objecting to any provision of the classification affecting his office or position may appeal in writing to the personnel administrator.

Summary:
Under current law, a challenge to a civil service classification requires a hearing, regardless of its merit. This section permits challenges to be resolved on the written record, thereby conserving state resources.
