To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives:
As authorized by section 9C of Chapter 29 of the Massachusetts General Laws, the attached list details additional allotment reductions that I am implementing to meet a portion of the fiscal year 2009 budget shortfall, which I recently announced. The majority of the shortfall was met through solutions offered in a supplemental budget request which I have previously proposed. These remaining adjustments set aside savings achieved from implementing a furlough for managers as well as from other identified savings.
