7061-9621 | Gifted and Talented Children For the administration of a grant program for gifted and talented school children; provided, that the funds appropriated in this item shall be in addition to any federal funds available for the program; provided further, that priority shall be given to those grant applications that address the needs of students who are identified by any of the following criteria: (1) the result of a standardized aptitude examination which is 3 or more standard deviations above the mean; (2) an evaluation by the child's teachers that the child does perform, or is capable of performing, satisfactorily at 2 or more grade levels above the child's chronological age; or (3) a score on the math or verbal Scholastic Aptitude Test by a child of not more than 13 years of age which is equal to, or greater than, the average on either test obtained by college-bound high school juniors; provided further, that the programs may be made available by a city, town or regional school district; and provided further, that for the purpose of the programs, appropriated funds may be expended through August 31, 2009 |
