MISSION
The Lottery is charged with generating the revenues through the sale of its products, while the Department of Revenue's Division of Local Services is responsible for disbursing the funds to municipalities. The state's distribution formula of Lottery revenues is based primarily on property values and population, and does not take sales into account when deciding how much is returned to individual communities. Any changes to the formula require legislative approval.
