4510-0600 Environmental Health Assessment and Compliance
For an environmental and community health hazards program, including control of radiation and nuclear hazards, consumer products protection, food and drugs, lead poisoning prevention in accordance with chapter 482 of the acts of 1993, lead-based paint inspections in day care facilities, inspection of radiological facilities, licensing of x-ray technologists and the administration of the bureau of environmental health assessment pursuant to chapter 111F of the General Laws, the 'Right-to-Know' law; provided, that the department shall file a report with the house and senate committees on ways and means, the joint committee on public health, and the joint committee on health care financing on the status of local health inspections of food establishments, consistent with the department of public health food safety regulations and a report on the current waiting list for indoor air inspections by October 1, 2010; provided further, that $195,000 shall be expended for the purpose of the continuation of an environmental risk assessment of the health impacts of the General Lawrence Logan Airport in the East Boston section of the city of Boston on any community that is located within a 5 mile radius of the airport and is potentially impacted by the airport; provided further, that the assessment may include, but not be limited to, examining incidences of respiratory diseases and cancers and performing medical and laboratory tests and examinations of residents of these communities; provided further, that the bureau shall report its findings, together with any recommended response actions by the commonwealth, to the house and senate committees on ways and means not later than June 1, 2011; and provided further, that notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, 100 per cent of the amount appropriated in this item for the environmental risk assessment shall be assessed upon the Massachusetts Port Authority and paid within 30 days after receipt of notice of such assessment from the commissioner of public health
